A Research and Critical Study of Orthographic Variations of Pashto

Abstract

Besides the differences in individual’s writing, Pashto has four major variations in its contemporary orthography leading to four forms of orthographies. The article investigates these variations. There are seventeen major differences that make these forms distinct from each other. The first one is orthography of curriculum of Afghanistan, other one is Kandahar’s version of orthography, third one is orthography of Bara Galai and lastly the orthography of Pashto Academy Quetta.
