Realism in ‘Amail’, a short story collection by Dr Sher Zaman Semaab

Abstract

Realism, a dynamic and vibrant movement of universal import, has influenced all human creative endeavors, both ancient and contemporary. Like other fields, the same movement has left an indelible impact on literature and literary genres. Pashto literature could not escape the same impact which is evident in all its forms. The impact of Realism on Pashto short story, unlike other literary forms, is much deeper. With the passing of time, the influence has been deepening on the form. ‘Amail’ a debut book of short stories by Dr Sher Zaman Semaab, is marked with the same influence of realism. The current research paper objectively investigates realism in the same book.
